The Social Club had a fantastic day at the GUN CLUB! — 26th June 2010

by Eirin Fondal

Saturday 26th June we meet at Brisbane Gun Club (BGC) to learn how to shoot and hit clay targets with shotguns. The smiles on our faces and nervous laughter showed me how exited we all were.

Paul Vit, one of BGC highly qualified coaches showed us how we could one day become Olympic Champions. We were supplied with 25 cartridges, earplugs and a huge SHOT GUN.

We started with 10 "practice" shots. It was awesome to feel the weight of the shotgun, loaded with ammunition, leaning in your shoulder and then shouting PULL.

Instinct and adrenalin rushed through your veins and *BANG*.

Your balance is challenged by the force behind the shot. Then to turn around to Paul with a BIG smile and for him to say, "That was great, but next time you will nail it I'm sure. Forget about the past, you can only change the future."

After our 10 "practice" shots we had 15 targets left for the Inaugural Pro Dive shooting competition.

Everyone did extremely well. The average score was 6 hits out of 15 shots.

But alas there could only be one winner. The WINNING SCORE was 11 hits out of 15 shots.

Congratulations to BRENDAN FISCHER. He won a Sharkskin Stubby holder, mouse pad, a cap from Aqualung and a black ribbon with 1st place embossed in diamonds. We celebrated with a hotdog and a cool drink, and set about planning for the next shoot out.

Thank you to everyone who turned up and for making the Gun Club Day a huge success!

Thank you to Brisbane Gun Club we had a BALL!
